To be open with everyone, Scott Allen Fallbeck is a pen name I’ve chosen to use out of an old-fashioned desire to keep my writing life separate from my personal and professional lives. However, I am still myself and any interaction is still with the same open, easy-going fellow my co-workers and family are familiar with.
Now for a bit of background info…
I was raised on a steady diet of Star Trek, Star Wars, and X-Files. Steven Spielberg and Sam Raimi are my cinematic storytelling idols. If life could have a soundtrack I’d hire John Williams to compose the score and commission Seal to write and sing several songs. Isaac Asimov is the author who got me into writing in the first place and serves as a humbling reminder that no matter how much I write, he has written way, way more (the guy wrote over 400 books!).
I live in Seattle (where contrary to popular opinion, it doesn’t rain every single day) and enjoy collecting vintage movie posters. The following words from John Adams pretty much sum up my personal philosophy, “Let us tenderly and kindly cherish…the means of knowledge. Let us dare to read, think, speak, and write.” On a side note, I also plan to obtain the secrets of the flux capacitor after a future version of myself arrives in a flying DeLorean.
I’d also like to give a shout out to David Wright and Sean Platt at Collective Inkwell along with writers Dean Wesley Smith, Kristine Kathryn Rusch, and J.A. Konrath. As Timothy Zahn once said, “On the rare occasions when we’re actually able to trace something directly to its source, it’s only right we acknowledge it.” Thank you to David, Sean, Dean, Kris, and Joe for your inspiration and example.
